Diana Joins Forces with Leica and Meridian Audio
Forty privileged guests gathered last week at Leica Camera’s Studio-S in Mayfair to hear the spectacular performance of the violinist and songwriter, Diana Yukawa.

The award-winning solo artist, who is world-renowned for her revolutionary interpretation of classical music, played for the very first time in harmony with her own compositions courtesy of the breath-taking sounds of the modern Meridian Audio loudspeaker.

A seamless marriage of old with the new, Diana Yukawa’s inspirational repertoire on a Dall’aglio Giuseppe violin dating back to 1810 was brought to life by today’s DSP7200 speakers whose technology and design is the result of four decades of highly coveted and ground-breaking innovation.

Furthermore, Bob Stuart, Meridian’s Co-Founder and a classical music aficionado, provided guests with personal accounts of some of the milestones in the company’s rich history as well as one-to-one demonstrations of the Meridian pieces on display.

Diana Yukawa Expands Live Bookings Team

Diana Yukawa Expands Live Bookings Team

Following busy activity and interest after Diana’s EP release, the London based Songwriter and Violinist is thrilled to have teamed up with two new live booking agencies.
Primary Talent are looking after Diana live performance activities for UK and Europe, whilst Lassu Inc are representing the violinist and songwriter’s live activities in Mexico, Central and South America.

Primary Talent international is one of the foremost contemporary music booking agencies in Europe. Senior agent Steve Backman has a great interest in Diana and her revolutionary sound and is well placed to introduce this sound to his network.

Formed in 1990 as the result of a merger between two existing agencies - Station Agency and World Service, Primary was established on the basis that being a big agency, far from being a problem, could be a real benefit to everyone as long as the ratio of individual agents remained unchanged and the personal style of working - for which UK agencies are famous - was not only maintained but increased.

Since the very beginning, Primary has prided itself on the wide and ever increasing spectrum of musical styles and nationalities that its roster encompasses. It has a deserved reputation around the world not only for the quality of its artists but also for setting high standards of technical output and innovation.

Diana is also extremely excited to announce the growth of her team, on the other side of the pond. Lassu Inc is officially representing Diana Yukawa’s live activities in Mexico, South and Central America. The company’s president, Emma Salamanca is driving Diana’s activities in the territory and is very excited to be working with the revolutionary talent.
With over 15 years experience booking and producing shows and events of all kinds, LASSU-INC is a strong partner for Diana, exposing the Violinists sound in this exciting region.

Live performance is a very important and exciting aspect of Diana’s creative endeavours and so she is thrilled to have extended the team on this front. Diana comments “This is of course a strategic decision but also something very close to my heart - I am extremely excited to see what the future holds with our new partners”.

Diana's Music in Teton Gravity Ski Competition

A track from Diana Yukawa’s latest EP, “Finding the Parallel” has been used as the soundtrack for a video in competition for cutting edge Film and Apparel maker; Teton Gravity.

Watch and/or vote for the video here.

The video producers 4BI9 Media and Dale Talkington teamed up to put together a video from the streets as well as the backcountry in Utah, USA using Diana’s track “Juno” as the soundscape for the piece which is in competition.

The track fused together seamlessly with the edgy, high impact visuals created by 4BI9 Media and the immensely talented Dale Talkington – often described as one of the Stylish Skiers in the game.
“What really caught our attention with the song Juno was its very distinctive sound and style. We felt that the amazing violin work combined with a more modern backbeat element, which was definitely a very different sound from anything else we had heard before, would provide as a great soundtrack for this piece.  Also, I would say that one other aspect that really sparked an interest in using Juno for this video was that its varying pace and tempo throughout” comments AJ of 4BI9.

AJ continues “When putting a video together we find it to be important to make sure that you vary how and at what pace the visuals are presented in order to keep the attention of the audience. The progression of this song from beginning to end allowed us to present the different aspects of Dale's past season in a way that we felt would keep it from getting repetitive”.

The competition, “Co-Lab” is an open source freeskiing project created around the new generation of athletes and filmmakers. Skiers upload their Winter 2012/13 edits to TetonGravity.com, users will vote for the top 18, and an industry panel will select three Wild Cards. Those Top 21 athletes will then cast their own votes, in order of preference from most favourite to least favourite. The results from the Top 21 will determine the overall winner.

In the years that followed Diana's last album release with Sony Music, the Songwriter and Violinist has been working hard to establish her signature sound. The music and the artist can only really be described as simply revolutionary and refreshing. Diana feel’s that her latest EP has truly captured the sound she has been striving for.

The EP “Finding the Parallel” which includes the track “Juno” used in the aforementioned video can be purchased on iTunes

Diana and her team would like to wish the 4BI9 Media and Dale Talkington the best of luck with the competition.

Diana Yukawa to Perform at the 2013 BBA

Guests at the 2013 British Business Awards (BBA) ceremony, to be held November 1 at the Mandarin Oriental, Tokyo, will be treated to a special feature performance by violinist and songwriter Diana Yukawa.

Hailed as a virtuoso violinist in the classical world upon her debut in Japan in 2000, the Tokyo-born, London-based artist has released three successful albums with Sony Music and BMG Japan, and collaborated with Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, English Chamber Orchestra and BBC Concert Orchestra conductors Robin Stapleton and Grant Llewellyn.

In recent years Diana has expanded her musical range through recording collaborations and live performances with some of the most respected and influential names in modern music, including award-winning film score composer Craig Armstrong (The Great Gatsby), trance DJ Paul Oakenfold, electronic music pioneer John Foxx and legendary guitarist Jeff Beck. She has also blossomed as a talented songwriter and entertainer in her own right.

Diana’s album The Butterfly Effect, released in 2009, heralded a new sound and musical direction. Her upcoming 2013 EP Finding the Parallel reveals maturity as a composer of emotionally resonant electronic and orchestral music that appeals to an ever-widening fan base.

Its UK release in March coincided with an impromptu songwriting session and interview with British songwriter Nitin Sawhney for BBC RADIO 2, resulting in the track Jaipur, which was selected by John Waite as BBC Radio Pick of the Week.

Following was an appearance as VIP performer at the Royal Albert Hall at The Night of 1000 Stars annual benefit concert, which raised money for Gloria Hunniford’s cancer support charity, The Caron Keating Foundation.

At this year's BBA, guest can expect an unforgettable musical experience from this unique and talented artist.

Diana Yukawa, Revolutionary Violinist and Songwriter to Release EP on 18th March

London UK;  Revolutionary songwriter and violinist, Diana Yukawa is set to release her EP on 18th March 2013. The British artist will be releasing the 3 tracks, My Way Home, Juno and City of Shadows, worldwide (excluding Japan) digitally under the title Finding the Parallel.

In the years that followed her last album release with Sony Music, Yukawa has been working hard to establish her signature sound. In a recent interview, when asked about the music Yukawa described it as Electronic-Classical-Triphop. The music and the artist can only really be described as simply revolutionary and refreshing.... The London based songwriter and violinist feel’s that this EP has truly captured the sound she has been striving for.

Yukawa comments it' been a long musical journey I have been on to create the music I've been so passionate to make. I have been combining different sounds that I love with the violin and finding the right balance of electronic and acoustic. It's about love - love for music!”. The violinist continuesI suppose you could say the sound is a blend of classical and electronic. It lends itself really well to visuals, because I think it's very atmospheric and emotive - lots of people say it sounds very filmy.”

For the EP, Yukawa collaborated with Producers Alexis Smith and Joe Henson working closely to co-write the tracks.  Also known as “The Flight”, the duo’s skills are as diverse as their credits, having worked with Empire of The Sun,  St Lou Lou, Lana Del Rey and Bjork to name a few.

Yukawa was thrilled to have found these two great talents “Joe and Alexis really understand my musical direction and it was a great pleasure to work with the exceptionally talented duo”.

Yukawa is currently writing the material for her album which is speculated for release towards the end of the year. In addition to her own album Yukawa is also working with John Foxx and Benge  for a standalone album which is expected to get a release this year.

Also the violinist and songwriter collaborated with the notorious Nitin Sawhney on a track.  Nitin spoke highly of the songwriter; Diana’s tone is simply awe inspiring -  a true virtuoso and a joy to work with.”

The London based violinist has released three albums through Sony Music, the first when she was just 14 years old. Her last album “The Butterfly Effect” released in 2009 features original music co-written by the violinist. Yukawa comments “whilst the sound of the last album is rather different to the new material, The Butterfly Effect was really a great stride forward in establishing my future music direction”.

The violinist has led an extraordinary life. Born in Tokyo to an English ballet dancer and a Japanese banker just 3 weeks after the 1985 Japan Airlines disaster that took her father’s life, she has crossed cultural boundaries in her personal life and is pushing to cross even further in her professional life as a much celebrated violinist and songwriter.

“My goal is to create music that connects with listeners and to also reach people who perhaps wouldn't ordinarily listen to my kind of music, or more "classical" and instrumental music. I want my music to evoke emotions.. it's really as simple as that.”

Finding the Parallel, the EP will be available to download from 18th March 2013

Nitin Sawhney and Diana Yukawa Collaborate

Solo Violinist and Songwriter, Diana Yukawa is thrilled to announce that she has collaborated with Nitin Sawhney on a track fusing both artists exceptional talents.

Diana comments “Nitin is a real inspiring artist and person and I have a huge amount of respect and admiration for his work - Nitin was and continues to be at the forefront of the cutting edge music scene and it was a great pleasure to work with him... hopefully it won’t be the last...”

Nitin is firmly established as a world-class producer, songwriter, DJ, multi-instrumentalist, orchestral composer and cultural pioneer, Sawhney has become a latter-day Renaissance man in the worlds of music, film, videogames, dance and theatre.

Signed to Universal Publishing, Nitin has made 9 studio albums, for which he has been nominated for a Mercury Music prize, won a MOBO, 2 BBC Radio 3 awards and a Southbank show award, amongst 15 others. He has scored over 40 films for cinema and television, with an Ivor Novello nomination for best score leading to his recent much acclaimed Orchestral music to the BAFTA nominated BBC series “The Human Planet”.

Nitin Sawhney comments on the collaboration; “The Diana Yukawa collaboration was particularly enjoyable as she was open to playing her 200 year old violin over some flamenco patterns I put together on the day.  We came up with some nice riffs together and built up an energy that felt quite cinematic in the end.  The track reminds me of Rajasthani deserts and the origin of the gypsy nomadic culture. Diana’s tone is simply awe inspiring.   A true virtuoso and a joy to work with.”

Diana’s next album is due for release later this year, with the possibility of an EP being planned to be released at the end of March.

In amongst the revolutionary Solo Violinst’s time in the studio, she will be partaking in a tour of the US for the show VincerĂ³ and will be preparing for a grand performance at the Royal Albert Hall in May.
