Diana Yukawa Opens the Katie Piper Foundation - My Beautiful Ball

The Katie Piper Foundation hosted its first My Beautiful Ball at the Savoy Hotel in London on 1st September to raise funds for the Katie Piper charity.
Diana Yukawa opened the evening with a piece of music from her last album.
The violinist was extremely impressed by the dedication and courage by Katie Piper and her fellow ambassadors to help burns and scar victims.
Katie Piper is a beautiful young woman, rebuilding her life after surviving a brutal attack in 2008, where sulphuric acid was thrown in her face.
Katie Piper spent seven weeks in the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, before starting a two year stint where she wore a special plastic pressure mask for 23 hours of every day. Prior to the attack, Katie was a model and budding TV presenter with a hectic social life and a glowing future in the public eye. The attack ruined Katie from the inside out. Like many, she believed her life was over now that she was a ‘burns victim’.
Following pioneering surgery, led by Mr Mohammad Jawad FRCS, Katie was referred to Centre Ster in Lamalou-les-Bains, a specialist rehabilitation centre in France. This centre had a remarkable impact on her recovery, both mentally and physically. It was here, whilst interacting with other burns survivors, that she made the most progress in regaining control of her life.
The Katie Piper Foundation was set up to make a difference to burns survivors.
The Foundation is ultimately working towards the delivery of an advanced rehabilitation and burns clinic in the UK. This will in time, include residential facilities for patients, enabling them to benefit fully from treatments and from social interaction with other survivors.
The Violinist is very proud to have supported this charity along with other guests such as patron Simon Cowell and Leona Lewis.
If you are in a position to do so you can donate to the Katie Piper Foundation by going to the website.

They will perform at a charity concert held at McQueen in Shoreditch which aims to send further financial aid to Japan, while also offering encouragement not only to the victims of the earthquake and tsunami, but also to Japanese in England and across the world.

Solo Violinist Back in the Studio

Following on from a world wind year that included appearance at some of the most prestigious events from the Summer Proms to supporting Katherine Jenkins, Diana Yukawa has returned to the studio to write once more. Currently working on new material, the young violinist will be pushing the boundaries of her previous work, moving towards more modern sounds that really demonstrate the violins beauty and versatility.
At only 25 years of age, award winning solo violinist Diana Yukawa released two albums with BMG Japan before signing to Sony Music Japan as an international artist to release the third. Yukawa teamed up with world-renowned producer, Andy Wright (Massive Attack, Jeff Beck), to work on 2009’s “The Butterfly Effect”, an album that saw her inject a modern twist and sparkling originality into the classical strings of the violin.
Due for a 2011 release, Diana’s next album will see the young protégé return with an even fresher, more invigorating approach to inspiringly original material. We can only expect that Diana’s experiments with a more modern sound will yield harmonies that are just as, if not more, sumptuous and thrilling than her critically acclaimed discography.
The solo violinist will also be embarking on an array of exciting collaborations for her forthcoming effort, from multi-instrumentalists and renowned composers to guest vocalists. All of whom will help the violinist create the evocative and beautifully crafted sweeping melodies that she has become famous for.
The musician is looking forward to returning for the festival season next year accompanied by fresh material to delight the crowds. Watch this space… exciting things are about to happen.
